Happy first day of December! Go grab yourself a hot baileys and hot chocolate and lets chat Christmas traditions. What is it about Christmas time that gives us all the warm and fuzzy feels. Is it the twinkly lights on the tree, or the presents we look forward to every year, the baking, or is it the wonder and joy it brings to our kiddos? I can’t believe its here, that means 24 more sleeps until Christmas morning. I really love this time of year as long as I am organized and get as much decorating and shopping done before December. Once December hits I want to have all of my extra time to spend creating Christmas memories and traditions with my family. Two of my most favorite things about Christmas are the Christmas Traditions, The Christmas Decor, and much more.
Do you guys have vivid Christmas memories in your head from when you were a kid. Were there a handful of things that you did every year that you always looked forward to. When I think back on my childhood I have such fond memories of going and picking out an ornament, advent calendars, opening one present on Christmas Eve, decorating cookies with my mom, and going and looking a Christmas lights. We did so many fun things and I think that is why I always have that warm and fuzzy feeling as Christmas is approaching. Now that I have my own family I have been trying to decide on what traditions to do every year. My son is one and a half so this will be the first Christmas that he will really know what is going on and it is so much more fun. Here are some awesome traditions that I have decided to incorporate into our holiday every year. I hope some of these traditions you can also share with your families, and I hope they give your kiddos something to remember and look forward to year after year.
-Go and cut down the Christmas tree and decorate the day after Thanksgiving
-Go and pick out an ornament every year
-Christmas box to open on Christmas Eve. Could include new pajamas, book, a movie, hot chocolate, or popcorn. Fun things to throw on when we hop in the car to go look at Christmas lights. After we get home from looking at lights we watch a Christmas movie
-White Elephant with family on Christmas Eve
-Elf on The Shelf
-Breakfast with Santa-most cities will host something fun like this. Check around in your area, its so much better than going to a mall to get Santa photos and waiting in the long line.
-Advent Calendar-regular one with candy or goodies or an activity advent calendar
-Ginger bread house decorating
-Letter writing to Santa
-Give back-donate toys, give out stockings or jackets to the homeless
-25 days of books. Wrap 25 books and unwrap one every day until Christmas. You can find cheap books at TJ Maxx or Amazon
-Bake cookies for Santa
-Mariah Carey’s Christmas album on REPEAT
Please share some of you favorite Christmas traditions with me below. I love to hear what other are doing with their littles during this special time. I hope you all ease into this holiday season with no stress and lots of fun.
