Hi Friends! How is everyone hanging after the holiday. Are you ready for it all to be over or do you want it to last a little longer? We had such a great holiday and we were able to see all of our family which was so nice. Despite Beckett having a double ear infection he had a blast and was a happy little camper with all of his new toys. Now we have New Years right around the corner. I find New Years to be one of the most refreshing holidays. I love a fresh start and I love that we get that once a year. Right after Christmas I always find myself reflecting on the past year and thinking about how I can make this next year even better for myself as a mother. I wanted to share with you guys some Simple New Years Resolutions for Moms. These are some things that I myself need to remember and focus on this next year.
Self Care: It is so important as a mom to find some time to be by yourself. Even if that means having your husband take your kiddos out for a few hours so you can have some time to yourself. It doesn’t have to be anything over the top. Have yourself a spa day at home. Draw yourself a bath, light those Anthropologiecandles, put on a Fresh Face Mask, pour yourself some champagne, and read a good book. An hour like this is bound to boost your entire mood leaving you feeling recharged and ready to tackle the world.
Stop Complaining: This one is definitely the hardest one on the list for me. I find myself complaining a lot instead of NOT complaining and doing something to fix it. Stop complaining and start doing!
Eat & Drink Healthier: This one for me has definitely gotten easier. I have chosen to make eating and drinking healthier a lifestyle. It is definitely a mental mindset that you have to conquer. I have used the app My Fitness Pal for a long time and it is the best I have found to help me stay on track. I also use Gobble a meal delivery service that has healthy quick meals that are ready in 15 minutes. I also love following Danielle Walkers-Eat What You Love book and don’t forget to drink lots of water!
Be Patient: This one is also difficult for me. I always want everything done YESTERDAY. I have always considered myself a pretty patient person until I had a child. Sometimes keeping a good attitude while waiting is difficult. I have been trying to start explaining to Beckett about patience and how important it is.
Make Family Photo Books: Right after Christmas I make photo books of the past year. I am going to be doing this every year so that Beckett has lots of memories to look back on. They make it so easy these days. You can do it all right from your phone using Chatbooks or Shutterfly.
Put Your Spouse First: Schedule regular date nights, spend time together unplugged from your phones, or plan something romantic. Even after the kids go to bed you can set up a romantic date night at home. Making sure you are putting time and effort into the most important relationship in your life is so important. Pick yourself up a copy of The 5 Love Languages. I love this book!Build Up Your Mom Tribe: I don’t know how I would have made it through the past year and a half without my mom friends. Having these people to lean on when you need them is the best. Join mom groups in your area or on facebook. You can also create one of your own on nextdoor in your own neighborhood. Attend mom nights and create relationships that will help you navigate the crazy world of motherhood. I also love the Peanut app, if you are looking to meet new mom friends.
Be More Grateful: Gratitude turns what you have into enough. Stop comparing yourself to others and be happy with what you have an where you are at. Start a gratitude journal.
Put On Some Makeup: Get in the habit of getting dressed every day and putting on some makeup. For me it is a major mood changer and makes me feel productive and ready to take on the day. Take off those yoga pants and get dressed and don’t forget to put on some lipstick every once in awhile.
Spend More Time Outside: Take you kiddos and go play outside. I know it may be cold or wet but put on your coats and your boots and go explore. Go splash in puddles, go to the park, go have fun and be a kid with your kids. I find myself staying home with Beckett a lot because sometimes its just easier. My son is the happiest when he is out of the house exploring and I want to ensure I do more of that this next year.
I hope this list has helped to get your brain going on some easy things you can do this next year to help you be the best mamma you can be. I am not usually a resolution person because I find that most things people try and achieve are just so far out of reach. These are very obtainable and I hope you guys will think hard on ways to incorporate these simple resolutions into your everyday lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for stopping by today. You are all simply the best!
