Easy DIY Kids Name Crate
HEYOOO Friends! Happy Tuesday. I hope you all had an amazing weekend. Did everyone enjoy the Super bowl? It was so boring but I did eat my heart out. That is always my favorite part of the day. It was a great excuse to drop that diet and indulge. It has been raining cats and dogs here in CA and it has been nice but I am definitely patiently awaiting those spring vibes. I am just ready to transition out of the winter season. I need some Vitamin D ASAP. Today I wanted to share with you guys an Easy DIY Kids Name Crate that I made for Becketts nursery. This is so simple and easy and he really adores it. It has become such a staple in his nursery and I just love how it turned out.
I picked up an old wine crate from a local vintage store by my house. They gave me this wine crate for $20. I liked it because it was old and would sand up nicely. If you cant find an old wine crate you can just simply pick up an unfinished wood crate at any craft store. First sand down your crate. If it is an older crate you may need to sand it more than if it is new wood.
Once you have it sanded pick out your min-wax stain of choice. They have so many to choose from. I went with Minwax Special Walnut for this crate. Stain you crate and let it sit to dry.
After it has dried add some wheels to your crate. I just picked up mine from home depot and had the hubs put them on. Once everything is all dry grab some large letter stencils and add the writing to the crate. I chose a greenish chalk paint and stenciled it right on there. We use this crate for Becketts favorite books but this can also be a stuffed animal bin. Get creative and make what works for you in your nursery. Once the paint has dried seal it with any Clear Acrylic Sealer.
That’s it you guys! So super simple and I just love how it turned out. I am all about the simple quick DIYS that I can get done in a few simple steps. Anyone can do this one and its something your kiddo will cherish for years to come. I love to keep my eye out when thrifting for fun items like this one that I can use creatively and turn into something vintage but still useful. I hope you all have the most amazing week ever. Stay warm and dry out there. It means so much to me when you stop on over here and say hello. I appreciate each and every one of you and I am so grateful for this little blog journey I have been on it. Its been a blast.
XO, Andie
